A question for all the young Brits out there, but also for everyone?

Been here for a year and a half (and I'm 17 now), and tried to make friends from different cultures at college: Polish, Ghanaian, Albanian, Nigerian, Ukrainian, French, Indian, Pakistani, Maroccan, Somali... but the strange thing is that i've been in the UK and still haven't got a Brit as a friend! I'm Italian and I have nothing against anyone, but seeing all these brits around at my school (and there are loads!) and all the times I tried to talk to them (unsuccesfully!), makes me wonder A LOT!! Could it be our diversities that makes me incompatible to them? Could it be my Italian personality (let's call it so!) that deviates them from me? Or could it be just a matter of time before I can have an English as a friend?
