Why are female celebs held to a higher standard than male celebs?

A lot of it is the media. The cameras are fixated on female celebs 24/7 and they are judged every second of their lives. It's an obsession because they know an attractive female celeb in a scandal sells magazines and gets higher ratings. I really think they hope for meltdowns. The press contribute into driving these women into a complete train wreck.
