Why don't people realize that saying "You are very talented!" is insulting?

Thanks for the insight Bryce! I have played Guitar for about 16 YEARS (this Feb). There has been many people over the years, that said I was really Talented. I didn't really look at it this way. I will start correcting people. I have prob put 5,000 hours into developing my ability. I'm not exagerating on hours either. I usually practice 1-3 hous a day, on the weekends there might be a 4 hour session in 1 day. So yep - it's not talent, it's a lot of hard work to get where I'm at.
