Increase performance in graphics card.?

I have an IBM Thinkpad which has an openGL graphics card (ATI Mobility Fire GL T2/Te AGP). I know that this graphics card is great for workstation things like high graphic models, which have a slower frame rate than high graphic games. But I want to play some of the latest games, even though I meat or surp all the requirements, the games still lags from the low frame rate (even when i close all the background programs that are unnecessary even the explorer.exe). So I would like to know how to make my graphics card run a bit more like a regular radon graphics card, not an openGl graphics card. If there is any custom drivers to help do this I would like to know or any other way also would help.
